Back of the box:
When three people wind up stuck in an elevator, at first, it seems merely
like a nuisance. But with no light and little hope of help arriving, the
situation turns tense -- then becomes a nightmare when one of them is
revealed to be a serial killer. As nerves fray and emotions intensify, the
ordeal devolves into pure animal survival. Amber Tamblyn, Aidan Gillen
and Armie Hammer star in this spine-chilling psychological thriller.
The Bloody Truth:
Yet another surprise success in horror, Black Out is a direct to video
offering that scores on many levels.
Loaded with surprisingly effective CGI Cinematography and a small but
great cast of characters; black out does a fantastic job of getting under
your skin. Black Out is successful in causing you to feel the fear, anger,
and helplessness of the dynamic cast, and even seems to bring the
inanimate elevator to life as a 4th character.
The story remains simple in scope but is well written and fully completed by
the end.
You always know some impressive work was done when over 80% of the
film is shot in a broken elevator yet it holds your interest the entire time!
Also, the films’ villain embarks a brilliant downward spiral of character
development, almost mirroring the film itself, spiraling down into insanity,
violence and gore.
A complete surprise and a great pick off your video shelf for horror fans
looking for a dark and serious journey in real horror.
