Back of the box:

A roadside psychic shares two predictions with overconfident salesman
Jimmy Starks (Guy Pearce), and one of them -- that he'll be hit with a major
windfall -- seems to be coming true. But if the soothsayer is right about
that, then Jimmy must prepare for the other, more ominous part of the
prophecy. Piper Perabo and William Fichtner co-star in this Southwestern
suspense thriller from screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby
(Children of Men).
The Bloody Truth:

A paranoid and fearful trip into insanity.

First Snow deals with many ideas; fate, death, life, love and hate.  The film
takes us along for the ride as our protagonist’s world comes to its
inevitable end and it’s hard to not feel affected by the story.

The Bloody truth is that wile First Snow has some tense moments and the
quite and mysterious New Mexico landscape Mark Fergus paints for us is
undeniable creepy First Snow might not be considered horror by many.

A man learns via a fortune teller that he will die when the first snow falls.

Jimmy (Guy Pearce) is a new millennium, yuppie, con-man if ever there was one.  He’ll sell you anything from new floors to juke boxes
and have you thanking him for his troubles faster than you can sign a check.  He knows a thing or two about running a scam so he
doesn’t really take it to heart when a Fortune Teller (J.K. Simmons) predicts his ominous ending when the first snow falls in a few short
weeks.

Soon coincidence after coincidence has Jimmy rethinking his opinion of his psychic friend and from this point on we watch as he morphs
from confident and cocky into paranoid and pitiful.  Guy Pearce is perfectly paced as the protagonist you can’t help but like despite your
better judgment.

First Snow keeps you guessing long after most films have spilled all their secrets and is peppered with supporting characters that are
genuinely interesting without upstaging Pearce as he struggles for his sanity and his life.  The film focuses on the notion that “you put
yourself on this road” and explores the consequences of the choices we make in life.  The idea that fate is inexorable no matter the road
you take makes First Snow something of a thinking mans Final Destination.  My biggest complaint about the film was the ending which I
found to be a bit of a let down, however, like so many roads in life, it’s the getting there that’s the fun part and to that end, First Snow is
a decent film.
