Back of the box:

In 2040, an explorer vessel known as the Event Horizon went missing
beyond deep-space boundaries. Seven years later, the ship sends a
garbled signal back to Earth that sounds a lot like a cry for help. A rescue
ship led by Captain Miller (Laurence Fishburne) is dispatched to investigate,
but Miller's crew (including Sam Neill, Kathleen Quinlan and Joely
Richardson) soon realizes the awful truth -- something unimaginable has
happened on board.
The Bloody Truth:

Event Horizon reminds me of two things.   One, that as long as Paul W.S.
Anderson doesn’t write and direct he can have his name on good movies.
Two , that I will forever be plagued with a simple question.  Why would PWSA
(as anyone with four names should be known) attach himself to living
film virus Uwe Boll and began a downward spiral into worthlessness.  Well I
guess that was really just one thing.  Event Horizon reminds me of PWSA
and he reminds me of many things, mostly foul.  All that aside back in the
day he had his misguided hands on some good films.

Event Horizon is part visual and part psychological horror.  The nightmares
of deep space and what waits for us on the other side of the universe is
chillingly presented with a great cast and amazing art direction and set
work.  Event Horizon was the film of nightmares when I was younger.
These days it does seem a bit heavy handed but is should still please those
who seek science fiction and horror in one stylish package.
