Back of the box:

In director David Cronenberg's sci-fi horror film, "scanners" and their
unparalleled psychic powers are shunned by the "normals." When Darryl
Revok (Michael Ironside) forms an army of scanners to take over the world,
only his brother Cameron (Stephen Lack), a scanner who wants to distance
himself from his abilities, is capable of stopping him. But inexperienced
Cameron's battle with the insanely violent Revok could mean a grisly death
-- or worse.
The Bloody Truth:

David Cronenberg’s classic sci-fi horror flick Scanners is a tennis match of
bad and good moments that leaves it somewhere between a horror classic
and 80’s trash.

The Bloody Truth is Scanners remains today, thought provoking and at times
very intense.  The acting in the film strangely  ranges from downright awful to
Oscar worthy ( Michael Ironsid’s medical interview is simply stunning).  Poor
quality filmmaking such as the sync of the voice over hurt the film’s
whatchability.  Some effects stand up today while others become laughable by
modern standards.  In the end Scanners remains a chilling tale of corporate
greed, lust for power and the dangers of science.  Judge for yourself Classic
or crap!
