Back of the box:
When a man murders his elderly heiress wife, her relatives and friends set
out to narrow the field of inheritors by going on a killing spree. But when a
gang of college kids takes over an abandoned house on the property to
hold a party, the body count really begins to soar in this atmospherically
shot gore fest from Italian horror master Mario Bava. Claudine Auger, Luigi
Pistilli and Claudio Camaso star.
The Bloody Truth:
A Bay of Blood (Twitch of the Death Nerve) is a classic and one of the
earliest examples of the famous “body count” slasher film. Most notably it
heavily inspired Friday the 13th and for this I must give thanks. A Bay of
Blood does have its moments but to the modern horror fan the reality
shortcomings hurt about as much as a machete to the face.
The truth is the film is slow paced, unreal and week in many areas. A Bay
of Blood should be reserved for fans of classic horror and true slasher
fans who must pay homage to an original.
