Back of the box:

Searching for his missing sister.  Clay Miller (Jared Padalecki) heads up to
the eerie woods of the legendary Crystal Lake.

Against the advice of police and cautions from the locals.  Clay pursues
what few leads he has in the search for his missing sister Whitney
(Amanda Righetti) with the help of Jenna (Danielle Panabaker), a young
woman he meets among a group of college kids up for a all-thrills
weekend.  But they are all about to find much more than they bargained
for.

Little do they know, they've entered the domain of one of the most
terrifying specters in American film history.  The infamous killer who haunts
Crystal Lake, Jason Voorhees.
The Bloody Truth:

A modern remake of Friday the 13th has finally been delivered and what
did we get?  Almost the same thing we had nearly 30 years ago (and I
mean it has a complement)!

The Bloody truth is Friday the 13th is 97 minutes of sex, dumb drunk kids
and weed, lots of weed!  While they didn’t add much to the mythos and at
times the film can feel rushed as they cram about three films’ events into
the one, it still rings true as a great American slasher film.  It’s full of jokes,
loaded with jump scares and centered around one bad ass Jason
Voorhees.

Fans of the franchise will enjoy seeing Jason back, but are offered little
else.  New viewers might find an interest in the traditional slasher genre
with this fresh and sexy version.

The violence and gore is a bit restrained (as it was in the original edited
Friday films) for mass audiences but the sex is full bore!  We see T and A
at ever possible moment and they provide us a perfectly standard group
of dumb kids on their weekend getaway.  Jason’s favorite!

The one big change to the story is that Jason is not so much a disturbed
sprit of vengeance in this film but is actually a pot farmer who protects his
crops with deadly force.  Watch the film and try and see if you can
separate this fact from Jason’s apparent killing motives.

In the end this film is what we all thought it would be.  A Friday the 13th
film!  Not great but good and fun.  Now I hope it follows in the footsteps of
TCM and we get a bloody and horrifically violent follow up next year!

Can we hear it for some undead Jason!?  Let’s get at least 4 films out of
the old dog!
