Bloody Truth:

Jason goes to Manhattan (via a very long boat ride)

A large disappointment in its time due to the lack of actual film spent in
New York.  Part VIII does pump some life back into the franchise by sticking
strongly to the proven Friday formula and adding much better characters
and actors to the films then the last attempt.

Friday fans are often mixed on how they feel about this movie but the
bloody truth is despite many flaws and the lack of the New York landscape
Jason Takes Manhattan brings our masked killer to the next level adding
an even larger element of the supernatural to his killing repertoire.  Friday
VIII also features some great kills and the anonymous 80s soundtrack and
pre-Giuliani NY atmosphere is full of nostalgia.

A fun Friday movie to say the least, just make sure you take you life jacket.
