Back of the box:
A low-budget film crew descends on a high school that was once the scene
of grisly murders. Along for the ride are the star of the film (George
Clooney), the pompous director (Scott Jacoby) and the shady producer
(Alex Rocco). As throngs of people come to the school hoping to be a part
of the film, the crew is being murdered one by one. Is the killer back?
The Bloody Truth:
Return to horror high is anything but a straight forward 80’s horror
comedy. It manages to range from creepy, to stupid and from awful to
okay in separate moments. Almost like having 4 different jigsaw puzzles
mixed in one box and attempting to make a picture from it.
The film also jumps timelines, as well as in and out of what’s real and what
is being filmed for the movie within a movie. At some points the director
stops even taking the effort of letting you know what you’re seeing. So
good luck with that!
The bloody truth is if you have a soft spot for goofy 80s horror this film
does have some redeeming factors. These might be best found with a
group of horror friends and some beers, but they are in there. If anything
it’s all worth it to see George Clooney get his head smashed and to be
amazed at the 2 minute sex scene mingled with shots of men welding and
child’s art work. Yeah that’s just about sums up the strangeness of this
film.
