Back of the box:
The tough teen inmates of the Young Offenders Institution are dropped in
a dense forest, where they're expected to learn how to work as a team. But
their backwoods rehabilitation hits a snag when a crazed archer starts
picking off the delinquents one by one. As the body count climbs, a leader
(Toby Kebbell) emerges. He and the rest of the ragtag crew must pass a
crash course in teamwork … or else suffer the gravest of consequences.
The Bloody Truth:
Yet another foreign success, the truth is simple, foreign directors treat
their horror with respect. Wilderness is yet another example of a classic
horror situation treated seriously and done well, bloody well in this case. In
any other hands this would just be another teen scream in the woods with
senseless characters we can’t relate with and body count for no good
reason. Wilderness offers much more yet remains in the trappings of your
classic slasher films.
