Back of the box:

It's the showdown horror fans have been waiting for! This slasher movie
produced by Wes Craven and Sean S. Cunningham pits two of cinema's
biggest, freakiest, scariest ambassadors of evil -- the nightmarish Freddy
Krueger (Robert Englund) and the sinister Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger)
-- in the ultimate face-off. It's a battle to die for -- literally! Co-stars Kelly
Rowland, Jason Ritter and Monica Keena.
The Bloody Truth:

It’s the showdown we’ve all been waiting for, or dreading.

Freddy Vs Jason was nearly a guaranteed failure with writers and scripts
coming and going for years.  The final result is Ronny Yu’s anime like
interpretation of what happens when two horror icons show up in the
same movie.

The Bloody Truth is he created a cheesy, silly, over the top horror flick
that ends up being a good mindless time.  I mean by the end of this film
you have seen just about everything and the last great showdown mirrors
an epic Samurai battle including Asian style blood sprays and completely
ridiculous violence.

As a Jason fan I will say while they play up for both fans Freddy is
impressively reprised as the nightmare killer we all remember, while Jason
is more of a cardboard cut out, big and strong replacing stoic and
ferociously menacing. (We missed you Kane, but even I think a smaller
statured Jason would not have played well next to the tall and lanky
Freddy).

Your first instinct might be to say this movie is just plain awful but taken
with the right level of seriousness (that being none at all) It can,
surprisingly, be a good time for horror fans and fans of both the
Nightmare and Friday Series.
