Back of the box:

After inventing a way for creatures from the fourth dimension to come into
his own world, Dr. Edward Pretorious (Ted Sorel) suffers a gruesome
decapitation at the hands of those he brought "from beyond." But
authorities suspect his assistant (Jeffrey Combs) is to blame. Barbara
Crampton co-stars as a beautiful psychiatrist brought in to help police
solve the case in this classic 1980s thriller based on a short story by H.P.
Lovecraft.
The Bloody Truth:

Stuart Gordon pulls out all the stops while attempting to show on film the
indescribable horrors from Lovecraft books.  He gets pretty damn close
and in place of a description of the indescribable I will say this.  From
Beyond surprised me, I have been watching horror movies since I can
remember and at one point I was acutely staring at the screen with my jaw
dropped open attempting to wrap my mind around what I was seeing.

From Beyond does not quite catch the feel of Lovcraft as well as Dagon
(Stuart’s other wonderful work of Lovecraft) but for the fans of the weird,
sick, twisted and just plan discussing this movie will stand up.  The horrific
entities in From Byond even give the John Carpenter’s The Thing a run for
its money as far as the disturbing factor goes.
