The Bloody Truth:
Here at DRR we can't quite pin it down but we just love John Carpenter
films from the 80's! It might be the haunting isolated atmosphere he
seems to always capture in spite of the location, the unique soundtrack he
imparts or even the fact that his stories often make you think beyond the
realm of horror while still simply entertaining you with a dash of humor in a
pool of dread. It could even simply be nostalgia for a day when horror
was more about a concept then a naked teen or the next big pop song.
The Bloody Truth is that Prince of Darkness is pure Carpenter and should
stand side by side with The Thing as one of his greatest films. For this
same reason if you're not a fan of Carpenter films chances are the dated
look and Carpenters unique style of humor might turn you away, but if you
turn off the lights and let him take you away into his strange, dark
apocalyptic world, we can't imagine you won't find something to shudder at.
Fans of the Supernatural, religious horror and science fiction will all be
given concepts to think on and questions to anwer. Or left with questions
unanswered and concepts to ponder. For this reason Prince of Darkness
stands as one of Carpenter's finest.
