Back of the box:

Curiosity overcomes five innocent teenagers vacationing at a cabin in the
Tennessee woodlands, and their cellar-snooping unleashes spirits of the
evil dead. After all his pals have become possessed, flesh-eating zombies,
the one remaining teen (Bruce Campbell) tries to solve the nightmarish
mystery and save his friends. Spider-Man director Sam Raimi uses
impressively freaky special effects to make this low-budget horror classic.
The Bloody Truth:

The legend lives on

If you have never seen the original Evil Dead then just go rent it, or buy it!
Even with this film now over 20 years old, it remains as entertaining and
original as the day the first audiences were taken out to that secluded
cabin.

The Bloody Truth is that The Evil Dead is an absolutely gore drenched,
over the top and toughly independent horror film.  While some younger
viewers who prefer their horror to be PG-13 and released to major
audiences might find this film just too odd to enjoy, just about anyone else
will find something to like if not love in this legend of a horror film that
launched Sam Rami and Bruce Campbell’s careers
