Back of the box:
Determined to save her terminally ill daughter (Jodelle Ferland), Rose
(Radha Mitchell) ignores the wishes of her husband and takes her to a
faith healer. But her well-intentioned efforts somehow land them in an
alternate reality -- the deserted town of Silent Hill -- where her daughter
mysteriously disappears. Now, with only a police officer (Laurie Holden) to
assist her, Rose is left to search for her child in a world of darkness and
shadow.
The Bloody Truth:
Whether you're watching this film because you want to see how true it
stays to the video game, or just to see some scary shit, it will succeed in
both requests. Silent Hill never asks you to understand the films video
game aspects, but instead places scenes throughout the movie that pay
tribute to the games fans without distracting you from what its true
intentions are; to scare you.
The film is done so well, that even though you’re placed in the twisted
world that is sometimes overwhelmingly disturbing, you’re never push
outside of the film. With each step that Rose (Radha Mitchell) takes into
the world of Silent Hill, you’re amazed by the music, sound, and visuals that
the film provides you.
If you come out of this film unimpressed, you were either confused (there
are some things in the film that aren't made clear), or you woke up and
decided to be an asshole.
