Back of the box:
When a mysterious, driverless black sedan begins running people down in
a small Southwestern town, new sheriff Wade Parent (James Brolin) must
find out who -- or what -- is behind the killings. What he uncovers is a truth
more terrifying than anyone expected. Is it pure evil? This cult horror
classic from director Elliot Silverstein also features Kathleen Lloyd, R. G.
Armstrong and John Marley.
The Bloody Truth:
One of our favorite types of horror movies here at DRR the killer car film
named simply The Car is one of the most perfect examples of the killer car
scenario.
While The Car doesn’t pull from 70's shocksplotation films and is delivered
to us in a safe for TV PG package you can't take away from the films
beautifully haunting landscapes, and a toughly original killer car that while
driverless feels full of demonic life from the start. Like any late 70s PG
horror fare The Car does suffer from dated effects, goofy lines and often
unrealistic motivations but all that does little to take a way from the overall
experience. James Brolin and his quirky supporting cast lends the perfect
touch to this campy yet hunting cult classic.
